How FraudCall Works


VariLogiX™ FraudCall system relies on 3 factors, the internet, our servers and our telephony provider. Major improvements in the last several years have allowed a seamless connection between the internet and telephony in conjunction with web sites. Bringing together all of these technologies to help combat the rise in fraudulent activity in ecommerce transactions. FraudCall has now allowed merchants to phone their customers real time while they are placing and order. this allows the merchant to verify the identity of their customers in high value transactions where an item or service may be provided.
How FraudCall Works

As many companies today, you are faced with fraudulent transactions on a daily basis. Combating these transactions that cause charge backs and high transaction fee's is time consuming very expensive and also puts a strain on your resources and staff. In the past years in order to verify an order you either had to rely on the AVS checking or the fraud screening process from your merchant provider or for many of us we went out and did the tedious work ourselves, searching many web sites for ways to catch and spot fraud.
VariLogiX has now developed a system that takes the guess work out of dealing with fraudster's, FRAUDCALL

First, let's take a look at the old way of deterring fraudulent transactions.

  1. Customer chooses product on your web site and proceeds through your order system
  2. Completes the order (at this time the charge has already been processed at your gateway and you have been charged the transaction fee and discount rate)
  3. Once you receive the order you then need to determine that the identity of the customer is correct and that the person who placed the order is the owner of the credit card by either calling the customer at the number they have provided in their order (which if a fraudulent order is not correct) or you can take their word for it.
    many times you would also do reverse IP lookups at various web sites among other procedures that are time tedious and consuming.
  4. 1. If you just take the customers word for it you would then setup the account
    2. If you call the customer not only are you paying for the call but the time that it takes to call the customer and verify their identity.
  5. 30 days later you find out that the order was fraudulent and are faced with a charge back fee which can be from $30.00 to $50.00 and the gateway and discount rates.

Now let's take a look at the VariLogiX FraudCall Way!

  1. Customer would choose product as usual
  2. Proceed through order system and enter Personal & Billing information
  3. During the order process BEFORE any transaction fee's, the VariLogiX Order Verification System would place a call to the phone number that the client provided in the order form.
  4. The client would receive a call from our system stating the clients First Name, Last Name, Domain Name, Order Date, Total order amount as well as describe the call coming from your company name, they would also see your company phone number displayed on their caller id.
  5. The client must approve the order over the phone by way of a double verification entry or 4 digit authorization code or reject the order.

    If using integrated AFIS
    In addition to the FraudCall you can also have our AFIS service run a unique Fraud Score on this customers information, AFIS would run the customers information through several cross checking data bases such as IP location mapping, Longitude and Latitude, Reverse phone number lookup, zip code matching and many more. AFIS would Score this information on a 10 point scale based on the rules you setup in the AFIS tuner in the VCC.

    If Approved
    Once the client approves the order through our system, the order would continue on your software based on the rules you setup.
    You would then receive the order and an email from our system alerting you of an approved order from our verification system.

    If Declined or Fraudulent
    If the order was declined or not completed by the customer, or the client did not provide a valid phone number the order would be declined, Our system would then pass this information through the API to your billing system as well as alert you with an email, you would then have the opportunity to either try to reach the client for further verification methods.
